It’s not that I don’t enjoy company, but there’s something about an extended solo trip into wild places that helps me genuinely connect with the landscape. My Yukon sojourn this September was spectacular with the sun low on the horizon illuminating the late fall colours. I wasn’t completely alone though. A band of stone sheep, mostly ewes and lambs, a small herd of woodland cariboo, the occasional black bear, and dozens of spruce grouse were keeping me company. All encounters were too brief to capture on camera. I did, however, take the obligatory selfie video for my website.
